Denied Real ID Drivers License NJ with Extension

Hi friends,

 

i went to NJ DMV to transfer my out of state driver license. However, they said that they cannot provide me real id driver license with extension letter for I-751. 
 

They rather offered me standard drivers license without real id logo. I told them expired Greencard with extension letter is same as unexpired Greencard. However, they said that is what they have been doing for everyone who comes out there with extension letter and expired greencard. This was very surprising, anyone in the same boat in new jersey?

Not all places accept an extension letters. After a quick look at NJ MVC they want an unexpired GC.

This varies based on state law.  A standard driver's license will have to suffice for now in NJ until you get a 10-year green card or US citizenship.  You can board flights with your country of origin passport until then.
