I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather. That is horrible. Not being able to go home and see your family when you need them most is a real awful situation which I wish none of us were going through.

Don't worry, that is what I have been doing for a long time now. While I did say in another thread that I was "new" to this, I meant the specific question on the medical exam. I don't know much about the K-1, K-3, CR-1, etc because I did not go through that process. I spend a few hours a day it seems finding stuff out so that I am prepared. I have already started preparing for my interview (even though I have no clue when its going to be). I've started to get all my proof of a bonafide marriage in order. I do find though that sometimes the more I read, the less I know! I read one thing and then I can read the exact opposite in another thread so I am a bit weary of what I read.

I do like this forum, though. It's the best one out of all the ones I have found. It seems people are out to help you instead of get their panties in a bunch over what you are saying or doing is wrong.

If you ever get overwhelmed with reading up on the immigration process, take a break and come back to it later. It can be sooooo overwhelming at first!

Since you're using a lawyer, are you receiving the letters from USCIS or is your lawyer? If it's your lawyer, make sure you stay on top of them to make sure you don't slip through the cracks.

You guys are definitely friendlier than some other immigration websites/forums I have been on. Some of them I have found the posters to be nasty and holier than thou on immigration issues. I'm looking to talk to people about their experiences, not legal advice so much.

Misa- I have definetely realized I need to keep bothering my lawyer about what I am getting. When I initially got sent an RFE, I didn't know until the status of my case changed online on July 21st. USCIS said that they had sent out the RFE on July 9th!!! So I got all freaked out as to why I hadn't gotten a notice from them in 2 weeks. It turns out that all my stuff is going to the lawyer as I suppose they filed the G-28. I called my lawyer and she, with no concern, said "oh yes we got it and it's being taken care of. They wanted your long form birth cert." (which I had given to my lawyer after I filed. I knew I was going to get the RFE because I only filed with my little ontario birth cert.)

Any ways...I emailed her yesterday to ask if she had gotten a notice from USCIS that they received my birth cert. She then wrote back to me today that they had only sent it out on the 24th of july!!! So she lied to me when she said they had taken care of it when I called her on the 23rd! She only replied to the RFE a day after I actually phoned her. She said they are really busy as people are trying to get their appl. in before the fee increase but that is noooo excuse! So I will be checking up on her! I'm not going to get effed!

Krikit- Yes I am sure if I give it time, I will be ready to name the jerks by name! haha

How frustrating! "Busy" isn't really an excuse when you are paying them for their services. Definitely check up regularly!

I totally agree. Ramos has had some nasty replys when he has been trying to help posters. This is deffinatly a much relaxed forum. I cringe when i have to post in the other forums, as i never know what i am going to get as a reply.
