Well, technically speaking, the name on the airline ticket needs to match the name on the passport. Bringing a certified copy (just what I would do) of your marriage certificate may be all that's needed. I know that booking tickets in the same name as that on the passport and *THEN* presenting the marriage certificate to bridge the name change thing is usually (from what I understand) the way it's done. If I'm wrong someone will come along and correct me I'm sure. :)

When I got married, I was told to book my flights in my new name and carry the marriage certificate with the passport to show why the airline ticket was not the same as the passport.

Legally the name on the ticket has to match the passport.

You might get away with it, but for anyone else: Please book tickets in the name on your passport!

that's the way I have always done it: tickets (maiden name), passport (maiden name), copy of marriage certificate, AP or green card. The people I worry about the most are the security peeps.

Wouldn't this only matter for international travel? Realistically, if one is traveling within the US, and you have a driver's license in your married name, then the ticket can be in the married name as well. What would prompt some authority to ask for a passport?
