Nope, no way of knowing in advance. Your employer doesn't need it for you to be able to start work though.

That's a shame. The job I want to apply for requires a SSN to fill out the application. I've heard the social security card is relatively quick to arrive.

Yes, very quick, ours were about a week. 

 

If you'll be there between now and moving you can apply for one in advance too. That's what I did, set up an appointment when I was going to be there on a business trip, and had it sent to my office and got them to open it and email me a scanned copy once it arrived.

Status in Ceac just changed to Issued yesterday from AP due to 1 missing medical report  and the CO asking for an additional doccument sent via email 8 days after interview.

 

 

Most likely passportd back with me this Friday.

After almost two months of administrative processing, my visa was finally issued, per the status update on CEAC today. I am looking forward to getting my passport back next week.

Hi Guys,

 

So my status changed to Issued today. It had sat on refused since after the interview and it was only yesterday that it changed to Administrative Processing. 

 

From what I gathered from others on the forum, once it changes to Administrative Processing, it takes between 2hours to 2days to move to issued and that's certainly the case for me too.

 

How long does it take to pick up the passport as I elected to pick it up from DX in London?

It's finally over!!!!!!! I landed in Newark on Saturday and lined up in the "citizens & permanent residents" line and got in smoothly. The officer took me to the back room where someone opened my envelope that I had to carry from the UK and looked at the contents and stamped my passport, it took about 5 mins. Now I wait for the green card in the mail. I am sooooo happy this is over! I had been living and working in the US for 5 years on the Australian E3 visa when I applied. It took just over a year from me first contacting my New York-based lawyers to me entering as a permanent resident on Saturday.

 

The category was EB-1, I work in the creative industries, current priority date, and premium processing, I was relatively surprised when my I-140 was approved within one week, one little hiccup with a submitted document for the DS-260, but otherwise very smooth. Me not being a UK resident wasn't a problem.

They took my passport on Friday 19th, it was listed as Issued on Monday 22, picked up Wednesday 24, all very quick.
