If I am writing a manual and I say

1) Oprima la flecha a la deracha hasta llegar a fecha del evento

2) Desplace acanalar hacia abajo 701, 702, 850, 881, o 1101

What does that mean to you? Is it nonsense?

1) Oprima la flecha a la deracha hasta llegar a fecha del evento=Oprima la flecha a la derEcha hasta llegar a LA fecha del evento

2) Desplace acanalar hacia abajo 701, 702, 850, 881, o 1101

1) Press the arrow to the right until you get to the date of the event.

2) By itself, desplace is like move/slide etc, and acanalar something about making a groove and hacia abajo is like down/towards, but all together I didn't get it and either does my Mexican husband; (he said it simply doesn't make sense! )

Hope that helps.

Dangit. Well, what's a better way to say:

2) Scroll down to select channel 701, 702, 850, 881, or 1101. *- in as few words as possible

? I really do appreciate the help here. (By the way- never trust those online translators)

Without reading hte other comments:

Hold down the arrow on the right until you arrive at the date of the ... evento is like "the thing that you didn't think would happen but did," it's *not* event, thought it's used that way in Spanglish. And to me "flecha" is the drawing of the arrow, it might be a "botón con flecha" (button with an arrow on it) but you can't hold down the "flecha" by itself. So in other words I think I know what it means but it sounds bloody awful.

Slide 701 (etc.) downwards along the groove?

After reading the other comments:

Please tell me you are not being paid to write this.

WordReference (both their dictionary and translation forum) tells me that it is indeed "desplazar hacia abajo," so "Desplazar hacia abajo para escoger el canal número 701..."

1. Press the arrow to the right (DERECHA) until you arrive at the date of the event.

2. should be.....desplace hacia debajo hasta que alcanza...etc. (Should be ALCANZAR = to reach)

Scrool towards the bottom until you reach 701 etc.

but my spanish is not the bast.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

How come Muy Solo and Desert Fox read it the way I wanted it to read, but the rest of you saw it as jibberish-and so did another friend of mine!?

Anybody disagree with Pedroh's translation? I question why the word "canal" is in there twice.

I don't know Spanish but maybe, just maybe, it's just as confusing a language as English? :P
