First thing is: use the tracking number from the post office to know if it was received in Chicago.

Second things: patience. It drives everyone nuts (me in the first place), but you pretty much cannot do anything until you receive your NOA with the case number in the mail.

After that you can go to the USCIS website and create an account with the case number. Keep in mind that they aren't updating things much lately and that some members have had their NOA for weeks but nothing online yet. We assume they are busy because of the increase of applications before the change of fees.

And to finish, if you filed in July and will have a July NOA, join in the July filer thread, you'll also be able to compare with the timeline of other July filers and until you get something you can always look at how fast other's are being processed. I find it motivating.

I actually sent in a Money Order, and had it delivered directly to the 3rd floor by courier, thats why I wanted to inquire.
