Hi,

Has anyone any advice or maybe a link to any regarding moving my 2 dogs with me to Arizona.

I think I'll be travelling on BA so I can get to phoenix on one haul and we are hoping in about a month.

They had a rabies jab about 8 months ago (when we were a tad hopeful!) but I have read conflicting information about time scales and rabies boosters (from between 6 months and 3 years).

We have their travel boxes all sorted.

I did ask the vet if he know anything, but he just scratched his head. Now I've caught that flea.

I am bringing my dogs from Canada to the US and all that they require is proof of rabies booster 30 days before we cross the border. They must have had the booster within 12 months. They also must appear to be healthy. If you are flying you need to call your airline and find out what the requirements are to fly with your dog. All in North America require a certificate of health from a vet at dated at most 10 days before flying.

here is a website with info...

Good luck

I brought my dog with me when I went to live in France, and she came back with me when I came back to the States. I had a proof of rabies vaccination done in france more than 30 days before the trip, but less than one year beforehand. I also had a health certificate done by the vet in france . They looked at the paperwork at the airport, and let me walk on through. Just contact US Customs and they'll tell you what all you'll need. Since England doesn't have a rabies problem, you should have no issues bringing your pet in to the states, at least in my experience (unless ytou're going to hawaii, where there is a quarantine).

I brought my two dogs from London Heathrow to Los Angeles on BA last year.

I would definately recommend BA, they were really good with my dogs and even when the plane was delayed on the tarmac for two hours at Heathrow the captain came out to reassure me that my dogs were fine and they constantly monitor the temperature in the hold where the dogs are kept. They may even forget to charge you like they did for me at the check in desk! I was told the dogs have to be payed for when you check in, so there I was with my 630 quid in cash and they didnt even ask me for it! I heave heard similar stories from other VJ'ers aswell to say that they were not charged either!

Anyway, taking your dogs is really easy. You need to make sure your crates are IATA approved, there are certain guidelines that your crates need to forfill. You can read about it here: http://www.britishairways.com/travel/pet/public/en_gb

Because the UK is a rabies free country, as long as you plan on going to the US and not coming back your dogs dont need any vaccinations or have to go through quarantine. All BA require from you is a health certificate from your vet saying that the dogs are fit and healthy to travel ten days before you are due to fly. Even that I wasnt asked for, but its best to have it just in case!

Hope that helps. PM me if you have any more questions.
