Can someone tell me how soon they got their green card after entering into the country?

Thanks

Within 30 days. Though they were backlogged in Oct - Nov last year and took 6 to 8 weeks for mailing Green Cards.

SS Card should arrive in 2 to 3 weeks. Good Luck

Thanks... My husband was told that it may take up to 6 months. I just hope it doens't take that long.

each case is independent, and some cases go fast :D , some go slow :crying: .

Also one of the question on aged-out situation. My brother priority date of Jan, 1997 was approved on September 2007 (Per visa buletion), US Embasy claim that they mailed my brother in Karachi the packet 3.5 in October, but we never recieved till last week. Now one of his son whose Date of birth is Nov 17, 1986 will be age over 21. Can some one help me what can I do to fight this and help him to get his immigrant visa and migrate to Los Angeles.

Thanks in advance for all you help.

Immediately notify ISB embassy of this situation. Send them email, they will reply back within 2 days.

Good Luck

Thank you all for your help. I got very positive response back from US Embassy ISL. They will accept one of the child that just turn 21 in last 90 days part of Immigrant Visa. He will be on list of travelling applicant. We just need to write AGE-OUT CASE on package.

Thank you all for your help.

Last week I had asked to see how long it had taken for someone to recieve their green card. Thank you everyone for your responses :)

Something really weird happened, after my husband arrived.. we went to Social Sec. office to see when he might be able to apply for his number. We were told that we had to wait for the Green card to come and than apply. About two days, my husband recieved his s.s. card in mail without us ever applying for it. Anything like this happened to anyone else...?

If you tick the mark on the paperwork of DS-230 (I think proper form name) at the embassy stage it is saying that you want them to submit your paperwork for a social security card. This what must of happened in your case. Glad to hear that it arrived in the mail.

Yes, Mary is right. It is actually question number 33a on form DS230 Part II which states,

"Do you want the Social Security Administration to assign you an SSN (and

issue a card) or issue you a new card (if you have an SSN)? You must

answer "Yes" to this question and to the "Consent To Disclosure" in order

to receive an SSN and/or card."

If you check 'Yes' box, then SS card arrives in mail.

AustinnPawerss,

We have talked in the past and I am not sure why they are denying the case but there is some doubt and they have decided to send your case back to the USA for revocation. I know of a few cases that were sent and did overcome the denials so you need to go and read from this link and maybe even talk to Kiya. Here is the link and best of luck!
