Hi all, I'm having a bit of a panic. I am the US citizen and do all the paperwork for my husband who is on a green card. He has his naturalization interview tomorrow morning and as I was going over the letter of what to take I realized that he needs MY birth certificate, not just my passport as was sufficient on the N-400 application. I am kicking myself and can't believe I didn't take care of this even YESTERDAY when I could have ordered an expedited certificate.... otherwise I have to drive 3 hours to Austin, Texas to pick up a new one today.... or just wait and reschedule his interview if he fails tomorrow with just my passport.

ALSO, I am not very confused what he actually needs for the selective service documentation. He was over 26 when he got his green card so he never registered (to my knowledge).

Thanks in advance for any light you can shine. I feel we just have to proceed with what we have and see how it goes. The only rush to get this done (since we waited 10 years to finally apply for naturalization) is that he is Ukrainian and can't go back to see family until he has a US passport... they are under martial law and he will get stuck as a male able to serve in the army. :(

1. Go get your birth certificate

2. if he filed I-485 before age 26 and he had no other  non immigrant status (such as F-1), then he needed to register.  Possibly he was registered.  Go to sss.gov to check if he is registered.

3. if he his a Ukrainian citizen, he should not expect a U.S. passport to protect him from conscription

Update; he went to his interview this morning and passed everything. They didn’t even ask for any of the extra documents besides his ID, passport, and green card. Oath ceremony will be within the next two  months. Hurray!

I did go to my local city that is in my birth state but isn’t my birth city and was able to get a birth certificate short form Yesterday, but obviously he didn’t need it.
