New B2 visa in India Chennai

Hello,

 

I applied for a visitor's visa for my mother in law in India. I paid the visa fee. I am able to get an OFC appointment, but there are no interview appointments right now. I paid the visa fee in May 2022. I am writing here to see if any of you have similar experiences or do you know when I can get an interview appointment? Currently is visitors visa available for people in india? Also, what's the status? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the information. Do you think the number of days will go down?

At some point yes but no idea how soon. Still so many backlogs from covid of visas that are considered higher priority than tourist visas.
