DS 260 Form Vs DS 261 Form

Good afternoon everyone I have a question about forms

Is DS 260 and DS 261 the same form? because when I go to fill out form DS 261 it brings me back to my original form where everything is complete and all the fees are paid.

Also my Husbands form DS260 is due to expire at the end of this month April 30th 2022 How do I update or resubmit this form without starting my case from the beginning? Where on the last step waiting for an interview time and date and I don't want to delay anything.

Another question do you think I should obtain a lawyer at this point of this process? I submitted everything on my own with no problem to the embassy I contacted a lawyer today and she said that she would charge me $3,000 but for the most part everything is done we're just waiting for the interview. She said she would update any forms needed and prep him for the interview, but I think that is way too high considering that I've done most of the work.

Ds261 is not necessary, you cannot update anything on the DS260 for now until you received your interview letter because they can't open it till your letter comes in the mail then you can request for them to open it... you're DQ no need for a lawyer there's nothing a lawyer can do for u at this moment.

That lawyer is trying to steal your money! Don’t hire them. All you have to wait for is the interview DQ and interview package.

Hello KayIgbokwe,

The DS-261 is just your appointing someone (besides you and the petitioner) to received communication regarding your file. I completed my filing online, and the DS-261 was just a set of questions on who I wanted to receive this information (not really a form at all). As for your DS-260 expiring the U.S. Embassy/Consulate will ask you to re-sign and bring the new confirmation (barcode) to the interview (once the interview date gets closer). You will probably be asked to update the tax return/proof of employment-income (possibly I-864 as well). Just my thoughts, and hopefully helpful.
