He’s bluffing.  He can’t take your green card and you’re nowhere near abandonment.

We had one stamped “out 11 months”, left, came back 4 months later, officer never blinked on return.

No matter what, if you have been out less than a year, do not sign anything to give up a green card and do not give it up.  Ask for a hearing.  A CBP officer does not have any authority to take a valid green card and they lie to you to make you think they can.

Thanks for clarifying that.  Did he gave you verbal warning during 11 month out and when did you left after that stamp?

We were in the US for three weeks and went back overseas

I wasn’t hearing any of his verbal warnings.  Told him we know the rules.  He tried to tell us the rules say six months, I reminded him that they actually say a year.

Thanks.... actually i got scared beacuse of some previous replies..... but Thanks..

If you really want to protect your status get a travel doc.  It is a listed de facto presumption that you did not intend to abandon US residence

Thanks Sir. Finally someone gave me hope for next trip.. Thank you so much... Have we seen CBP initiate removal proceedings for frequent travelers and on the basis of return tickets? note: I spent 62% of time in USA or last 5 years including time of 14 month trip with reentry permit?

I was out for 8 months during the early Covid days.  Got "8 months out" stamp and a hell of a chastisement!!!

Stayed in for 4 months.  Out again for 177 days.  Got in no problem, no questions asked.

Stayed in for 7 months.  I'm out currently.  Received my I-131 reentry permit last month.  More than 1 1/2 years after I applied for it.
