Hi guys,

I am 11weeks pregnant and my medicals is on 17th January...I will be 12weeks on 21st January.  The receptionist at visa medicals said they won't do an xray if pregnancy is not up to 12weeks... has any one(pregnant)had such experience during medicals in London. I thought they provide lead shields?

From the Technical Instructions for Panel Physicians https://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/panel-physicians/tuberculosis.html#overview

Women who are pregnant may postpone the required immigration chest x-ray (and immigration medical examination) until after pregnancy but are required to have a chest x-ray to immigrate.  Panel physicians must obtain consent from pregnant women before performing a chest x-ray. Panel physicians should develop their own consent form for this scenario. Pregnant women undergoing chest x-ray must be provided abdominal and pelvic protection with two lead shields that wrap fully around the abdomen and pelvis.

Hello!

So the chest x-ray is taken from the back. You press your chest up against a box and they will give you a lead shield to hold in front of your body.

Do you have proof to show that your are pregnant? Such as a doctors note/blood test result. You will need this incase you are due for any vaccinations and being pregnant can make you exempt from specific ones such as MMR.

The doctors and nurses are extremely helpful there and will make sure that you won’t be doing anything to damage your baby.

Hope that helps!

Thank you...I just wanted to know if being less than 12 weeks pregnant will make them refuse to do an xray for me. I guess not then

I would go by the local policy at the clinic in London.

Or at least call back and ask to speak to a medical professional about it. Why not just push the appointment back a week if the safety of your unborn is at stake?

My interview is on 24th January

Ah, not in your timeline.  You can still go to to your interview. Your visa approval will be pending until they get the medical results. Maybe you can do both the same day with the medical in afternoon.

If the clinic is going to refuse your x-Ray on Jan 17, then they will not send your report over to the embassy by Jan 24 anyway.

I guess so. I would rather get there on 17th, hear what they say...at least they may be able to do my husband's and daughter and every other thing and now tell me to come bk for the xray... than have them reschedule us all if I call again  lol

It’s hard to reschedule a time block of three for the medical. So your plan sounds good.
