I've got an attorney handling all my paperworkd. He did not send me a cover letter to include with my package to send to the service center.

Is the cover letter really necessary?

My lawyer did include a document signed by him that states "Copies are exact photocopies....I understand the Consular can ask for original copies at any time." (or something like that)

So, do I need to type up a separate cover letter to include?

The short answer is NO...cover letter is only something suggested (for organization purposes) here on VJ (and other sites) - there is absolutely no requirement.
