Hi there,

I am considering registering for the 2023 Diversity lottery but i'm unsure if we maybe eligible & would like to know if anyone maybe able to help.

I am British born but my girl friend of 5 years is Polish (which is an eligible country). I am not eligible to register being British, but it says if your spouse is then you still can register. We are only engaged at present, she is not my spouse but will be by officially married in 2022. What if we won (or she won) but was not married and but got married before the visa interview - is there a high chance we would get it provoked/banned/rejected? This is a 100% legitimate relationship, we have all of our photos on social media, our bank account, mortgage etc is together.

She can enter this year as she is eligible.
- Unless you marry her before the entry period this year, you are not able to enter yet.
- If she gets selected and you get married (before or after selection as long as it is before her visa interview), then you can get added to her case as a derivative.
- If she does not get selected and you get married before the next year’s entry period, then you can both enter. You would choose country of spouse as country of eligibility in the appropriate section for that. (Note that if you get selected on the basis of spouse’s country, you will both be considered principals and both of you will need to meet all other eligibility criteria, get the visas together and enter the US at the same time.)
