Passport Pick Up

How long should it take to pick up the passport with the visa after the interview? My fiancé had his interview on the 15th of this month. We are just waiting to pick up his visa. Do they just email you when the passport was ready to be picked up? I am worried we won’t get it in time for the flights i bought for us to leave on the 28th. I thought that would give us plenty of time between the interview and picking up the passport but we have gotten no word yet.

Does the CEAC status say "issued"?

It still says Application Received…it’s been more than two business days I’m confused why it hasn’t changed. The officer told us after it was approved it should only take a week and tomorrow it will be a week…

It's not approved until it says "issued," unfortunately.  A verbal approval is not actually an approval.

So basically you are saying it’s not approved? That doesn’t seem right…I think you are mistaken. His visa was approved all we are waiting for is to pick his passport back up

A verbal approval is not final.  It can take a few days, weeks or months sometimes depending if the applicant needs to go through a background check.  Long AP times usually occur in certain MENA countries.

 

When the paperwork and processing is complete, it will state "Issued" on CEAC. 

 

US Embassies typically advise not to make travel plans until the visa is at hand.  You still have some time, but I would advise you to contact the embassy tomorrow if the visa is not issued by then.
