Change of address

Hello,

I changed my address while my I-751 is pending (only moved to a different apt. in the same building). I changed it on the general USCIS website, even though the website said to rather do it on myuscis account if you have one (which I do, but frankly I didn't figure out how to do change address on myuscis, lol). I got an email with a confirmation from USCIS a couple days later, saying that they updated my address in their system. But now I'm getting nervous about if they actually have the right address since I've been waiting for my new green card for 15 months now. Anybody has the same experience with changing the address on USCIS website instead of myuscis? Is it ok? What is the best way to make sure they have the right address? Sorry for being paranoid, lol.

If you would like to feel comfortable, you can also make the same address change on myuscis account, and then talk to a live agent and ask if it is changed as well to triple check everything, but... USCIS is really bad at these address changes, even if you do everything, they may not change it. So, make sure that you update your address with USPS so that they can forward your mail. USPS forwards mails for a year, and you have the option to extend this forwarding service for a small fee after one year. I suggest you do that, and don't count on USCIS's confirmation. Since you are still in the same building, even if you will be scheduled for an interview, your local office will not change, so it is ok for that matter.

There are several systems - and being a Govt. IT system, it doesn't always communicate and work properly, so even if you have filed an AR-11 it may not reflect on all of the systems.

I still had issues with making infopass appointments at the start this year, because one of the several linked USCIS systems had an old address for me, despite letters and notifications coming to my correct address.

 

Make the same change in myuscis

Call them to confirm.

Call them again.
