Possible work travel soon after naturalization

My husband has his interview in 3 days, and if everything goes well we think he'll be able to to do the ceremony that afternoon, based on the experiences of others at our field office. He just learned today of *possible* work travel overseas in ~3.5 weeks. It is far from confirmed, and the date may change, so we don't want to put off his interview or ceremony. If, however, he does need to travel a few weeks after naturalization, am I correct that there are no options to get his passport quickly (beyond the 4-6 weeks "expedited" processing)? My reading is that USCs need to leave/enter using their US passport, so are you just stuck in the US until you receive your passport? It's not a life or death emergency, but it sounds like they could lose the contract if he can't travel when the client needs him to...

He can postpone the interview and ceremony until after the interview.

There is a very fast passport processing option - it’s expensive but it might be your only option if he can’t postpone the interview and/or oath ceremony.

You are correct that USCs must enter the US with their US passport, regardless of how many other passports they may hold.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

Expedites are actually  taking 2-3 weeks and regular 4-5 judging by the passport tracker thread. The website appears to be quite out of date.

The alternative is to request his oath ceremony at a later date and not on the same day as the interview.  When my husband was offered same day oath they also said he could do it at a later date if he preferred.
