I have applied for my citizenship and will have an interview soon. I applied 3 years after I received my conditional green green card, because I am married to a US citizen (haven't received a response to the I-751 application yet).

My question is for people who have been in the same situation, did your spouse have to be present at the interview? did the officer ask for them?

AOS:

01-05-2017 - NOA1 received

05-03-2017 - Verbally approved in interview

05-26-2017 - Card was mailed

I am not sure about "regular" times, but currently you are not permitted to bring anyone with you to the interview, with the exception of an attorney or other authorized representative. Make sure to read your appointment letter thoroughly. It will be pretty clear.

There are many post here with people bringing their spouse to the interview or just driving with them to the interview and leaving their spouses in the car. Many times they are asked about their spouses and most answers are that she/he is waiting in the car. 99.9% of the time IO will request for the spouse to come upstairs fro the I-751 interview. After the interview they will leave and you will have your N-400 interview. My advice is to bring your spouse with you and let your spouse wait in the car until called upstairs.
