Hi there

I have applied for my naturalization. I’m still waiting for my green card application removal of conditions. I received a letter requesting more information. I already sent joint irs, health insurance, car insurance , joint car insurance

mortgage application , AAA joint membership

I went for my interview thinking it was for the citizenship test. While we were there, husband came along, she started to get angry with me why I didn’t bring more evidence. I had thought when I sent more evidence in a year ago this was enough, but no. She was very rude and I was so exasperated then she says don’t get huffy with me you were supposed to bring all this along. I felt terrible. Not knowing that this was expected. I thought I was going to cry. So she said I’m going to send another letter- asking for details of financial and assets proving a good faith marriage. Since I sent all of the info a year ago we have bought a house together. So I will send all the paperwork of the payments the mortgage. Also even though I showed our joint bank account she said she needs bank statements in detail for last 3 years. I will send that too.   Good news I passed the test and now the only thing left is this extra evidence.
many advice on what else proves financial and assets of good faith marriage ?

Oh my gosh I'm so sorry the interviewer was so effing rude. Did you happen to get her name or anything like that? It would be good to file a complaint. I'm not sure where you would do that but you could probably Google it or go on the USCIS website and ask the virtual assistant Emma. It sounds like you already provided good evidence (insurance, etc). Do you have a joint credit card as well? Tax returns? (I'm guessing you sent tax returns since they're required.)

Yes I already sent joint tax returns. Never thought of filing a complaint but yes I’ll look into that. I didn’t have the actual bank statements just a record of our account. So I’ll pull those up and send. And I’m hoping the mortgage of the house is enough. We don’t have joint credit cards no. My husband thought we should now put all utilities in both names now but I’m scared that’s a red flag. We do have a great marriage. Committed to our new beautiful home and great careers. We have just always kept some of our personal finances separate.

Im trying not to panic and think worst case but her demeanour left me in a frazzled state.

In the RFE she sent you, I believe she detailed what exactly she is looking for from you. In that case, just follow the letter word by word for every item you have.

For the montage and bank statements, sent them since inception Statements (1) per Q or even all of them. Don't spare.

Again, send statement from the date of the marriage. If early on you were renting, send leases. Bank statement send from inception, if you didn't have joint bank early in the marriage, explain how you managed the finances.

In general,

Joint Housing, Finances, and Taxes are what you need to focus on, then Kids, Trips, Gifts, Affidavits, and anything else you can think of.

Thank you so much for the information.  She is going to send another letter, as she told us today.  The interesting part of the interview, she talked about a letter sent Jan. 2021, which I did not receive.  So, we thought maybe she had the year wrong... was she referring to the original letter sent Jan. 2020?

Yes, I will follow the details in the new letter.  But the mortgage will be only from April 2020, when we bought the house, and the joint account is only from the year 2020.  We do not have any other joint accounts or credit cards.  Do I need to explain why?  My husband and I both have our own careers, have our bank accounts, but pay our bills together.  We do have a good faith marriage, but we have chosen to keep some financials separate.  The house is a large purchase, and along with all of the other evidence sent previously, will this be enough?  Thank you again.
