Just wanted to ask your opinion about the most affordable wasy to move from Canada to the US. It is a small apartment of furniture, but it is all new so selling it would mean losing a lot of the money spent, but shipping it seems to be really expensive. Anyone know the best way to go?

U-haul would be the best if you are looking to save money on a short distance move. http://www.movinganswers.org/thread/90/Cal...t-a-truck-.html

If you go with a moving company, you can save a lot by boxing/packing everything yourself. Not sure of your location and where you are moving to, but have you looked in to PODS? http://www.pods.com/Default.aspx

Also what do you consider "expensive?" My aunt and uncle recently moved from southern California to Montana. They had a huge house so a lot of things to move. They were able to have it all done for under $5000

We toyed with the idea of paying a friend/family member of ours to drive down with their van. If they want a wee trip for free you could pay the expenses and have them follow you down? Not sure of the implications at the border, but we did think about that.

Hey There

I moved from Edmonton to Seattle and used Atlas. They were very professional, helpful, and things went very smoothly. I also found the rates were very reasonable.
