Technically your quarantine should be only with people you already live with/who you traveled with. You should get food delivered, etc.  (Staying with your grandmother risks exposing a vulnerable person to Covid, why would you do that before you have quarantined and waiting the appropriate number of days to be tested after travel?)

As essential travelers we are going to Los Angeles for a funeral. What are the norms? We will try to stay home as much but can we stay with our grandmother? Or is that not considered quarantine?

Traveling from where?  Southern California, currently with an ICU census of 100%, is in lockdown.  Are funerals even being held?

LA county quarantine restrictions, is the funeral going to be after your quarantine period is over?

Restrictions during quarantine

To prevent you from spreading COVID-19, you must restrict activities and limit actions that may put you in contact with others.

  • Stay home. Do not go to work, school, or public areas. You may only leave your place of quarantine to get needed medical care.
  • Do not allow visitors.
  • Separate yourself from others in your home (unless they are also in quarantine).
    • If you need to be in the same room as other people, set it up so that you can stay 6 feet apart if possible. It is important to stay away from people who are at higher risk of serious illness. This includes people who are age 65 years or older or have a health problem such as a chronic disease or a weak immune system.
    • Use a separate bathroom, if available.
    • Stay at least 6 feet away from others. When this cannot be done, wear a face covering (see Guidance for Cloth Face Coverings for more information).
  • Do not make or serve food to others.

LA hospitals are turning away ambulances. They have no more space, after resorting to putting patients in gift shops and conference rooms. Definitely not a situation I’d want to risk getting my granny sick, just saying. https://www.ems1.com/coronavirus-covid-19/articles/ambulances-are-turned-away-at-los-angeles-county-hospitals-3BujRWUJZQAKfBAa/

I don’t see any update to the funeral guidance issued early November, which allows them as long as all outside and 6 foot difference maintained between different households in attendance.  http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/coronavirus/docs/business/GuidanceConductingFunerals.pdf
