55/15 English exemption question

Hello,

I am filing my moms N-400 Online and have it all pretty much done. My only question is regarding the requests for accommodations section, my mom meets the 55/15 English exemption requirements and I do not believe that is what is being asked about in the request for accommodations section. Am I correct? If I am do I need to file any other paperwork or will she just be offered to take the civics exam in Spanish automatically?

Yes automatically, but must bring an interpreter: https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-12-part-e-chapter-2

As long as you answer “Yes” to Part 2 13 B you should be fine, but as @HRQX stated, you would still need to fill in the interpreters section.

On the online version, I don't remember it directly asking after the initial filing eligibility tool. The "About You" section only has the following subsections:

  • Describe yourself
  • Where have you lived
  • School and employment
  • Military service
  • Selective service
  • Travel outside the U.S.
  • Requests for accommodations

I helped my wife* fill-out N-400 3 weeks ago and the Application Snapshot PDF is generated as unanswered for Part 2 #13.

*She qualifies for 50/20 exemption.
