Like many people, my fiancée an I have been in immigration limbo for months due to the pandemic.   I filed the initial paperwork in October of last year, and we were about to schedule the interview in the spring of this year when everything shut down.

In the meantime, my fiancée had been regularly checking the forums and timelines on this site.  A week ago she noticed that people were getting interviews again at the Mumbai consulate, so we went to the ustraveldocs site and checked.  On the first page of the form to schedule an interview it listed the next available interview date as January 12th of next year.  She filled out the first page and clicked continue, but didn't go any farther, since we still needed to decide on a date.  When she checked the next day, the next available interview date was now January 21st.  So we filled out a new DS-160, and discussed when would be a good time to schedule the interview, and then she went back to the site to schedule.  But when she tried to log in it told her that her account was locked for the next 72 hours due to "suspicious activity".   72 hours seemed like an eternity with interview date filling up fast.  So I tried scheduling the interview from my account.  However, since she had already submitted the first page of the form on her account, the site detected that I had entered the same information and wouldn't let me proceed without merging the accounts.  About a day and a half later the site deleted my fiancée's account and sent me a password reset email.  I attempted to log in to my account with the new password, but now my account was locked.  I was finally able to log in after the initial 72 hours had ended, but now the message showing next available interview date was missing.

My fiancée called the customer support line for the ustraveldocs site and was told that K1 visa were now being processed as immigrant visas and she wouldn't be able to schedule an interview until she received a new packet (in addition to the one she received before the lockdowns).  He didn't seem to know if the packet would arrive by mail or email.  So far she hasn't received anything.  There wasn't any indication on the site that an additional packet was required to schedule the interview, at least as far as we got into the process.  Other people seem to have gotten interviews since the date of the next available interview moved up.

So my questions are-

Was anyone here able to schedule an interview at the consulate in Mumbai?

Did you need an additional packet before you could schedule?

How did you receive the packet?

Does anyone know why there's no longer a next available interview date listed?  Was there just a limited amount of available slots?

Is there a way of changing her address with the consulate?   I screwed up her address on the I-129F and now if she gets any correspondence from them she has to get it from the guy down the street who's address I wrote in.  He seems like a creeper and I'd rather she not have to deal with him.

Thank you for reading this and any help you can provide.

Was anyone here able to schedule an interview at the consulate in Mumbai?  There are many who state they are getting and processing their interviews in Mumbai. You should be a part of the conversation in your sub-forum region/country.

Go to the blue ribbon above, select "forums" then scroll about three-fourths of the page down and select the region that most represents where your country is located.

Did you need an additional packet before you could scheduleYou can schedule without the P3 letter, but you won't know what is required for the interview.

How did you receive the packet? It's sent via email to the beneficiary.

Does anyone know why there's no longer a next available interview date listed?  Was there just a limited number of available slots? Yes. When the schedule is full, they will at some time open the calendar openings.

Is there a way of changing her address with the consulate?   I screwed up her address on the I-129F and now if she gets any correspondence from them, she has to get it from the guy down the street who's address I wrote in.  He seems like a creeper and I'd rather she not have to deal with him. Go to the embassy website and look for the email address for immigration. Be sure to put in the email that you want to update the mail address and her email address along with the mailing address. Include the case number and WAC# as well as her full name and birth date.

Good luck and stay engaged in the process.

Thank you, I'll create a thread in the appropriate forum.

Just be a part of the conversation with the link I gave you or travel over to the sub-forum for India.

BTW, if I didn't scour the threads, I would have missed your reply and your thoughtful appreciation. Here are several tips to help you navigate VJ. We all know how intimidating something new can be and being new to VJ, you are still "feeling" your way through this. So, if you will allow me to give you some pointers.

Here's some tricks to use when answering and wanting to quote someone.

First, when you use the quote button, go into a LONG posts that you are quoting and if there isn't a need to have the entire post, just delete a small portion of it, but leaving enough of the original post so we can understand what you are replying to.

Second, you can use the "@" sign in a blank reply box then begin typing the person's nick to bring up a list with their name and select their name. If it is done right, you should see a blue box around their nick like this @Greenbaum. When you use the @ sign you would use it in a blank reply and not a "+" reply.

Third is just to use the "heart" icon and select "thanks". Don't really need to say thanks in a quote. (using your example, you were making a comment and a thank you so the way you presented yourself is fine.

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks
