thought we would be told status...approved or not approved

We had our I 485 ( from  a K-1) final  interview today. Interviewer asked for ID, I-94, divorce docs, asked me a few questions about myself and our first meeting, asked my wife information on our I-485 form plus many, many questions about illegal behavior. The interviewer opened a red box and stamper our document then applied a date stamp next to the previous stamp. He said thank you, we will notify you and gave me a standard doc stating that an Affidavit of Support was offered on my wife's behalf. The interview took approximately 30 - 35 minutes.

We did not realize until we got to the car that the interviewer did not ask for any proof of relationship...photos, joint accounts? Is this a bad sign that we have been rejected?

At this time of the pandemic, the interviewer doesn't want to interact with you much. It is normal. Good luck.

At least in normal times it's more common for the interviewer to let you  know if he or she is recommending you for approval (usually they don't actually have the ability to approve or deny on the spot), but it's hardly unheard of for them not to.
