You will not going to get scam if you knew what are the things youll need. Why you need a chair if you applicants will going to get inside and wait unless u bring someone with you and leave it outside. I always bring my pen but sometimes i forgot and paying 15 or 10 pesos is okay.

Last year i was there and there is one traveller who bring backpack straight to the Embassy, she is 1 hr early from Cebu straight to Embassy. In order for her to save she paid 200 for leaving her backpack cos she dont want to pay 1,500 pesos for a night rent. Thats nice.

I always carry my cellphone with a copy of US Passport on the phone with my entry stamp, and  I carry my US driver licenses.  Last time couple of time I have went to Immigration Interview section of the embassy I let the Security guards at the embassy hold my phone, I think they have lockers for US Citizens, they take them from you before you enter, but return them when you leave.

There you go.

Obv because you are a USC, like idk why its a big deal or a problem people selling a pen worth 15 or 20 pesos its like a business and applicants forgot what should not bring and leave it to them in exchange of money. Its like win win.

stay with your things or do the interview thats all.

The issue is there have been reports of these scammers holding items like Cellfones and when they go to retrieve them the person has disappeared.  I suspect the only win win is the scammer and the pawnshop they sell the items to.

For me I have spent alot of time in the Ermita area last few years, you get people always trying to sell you "Fake Rolexes", "Silver Coins" during the day and at night if you are roaming outside "entertainment districts or areas" then you get guys trying to sell you "Viagra" during the night.  I really gets old after a while.

Research, google and ask people what's their experience at the Embassy.  You should know what and not to bring. If they got scammed then its a lesson learned.

US citizens are obviously going to be treated differently from non-citizens at the embassy. If my memory serves me right, they even have a special different door for citizens.

I'm very happy for K-1s who have had expedite requests approved, and at the end of the the day it takes more cases/applications out of the growing pile of K-1s. I just wish the embassy would start accommodating routine processing for K1s, even just a few a day, so that we can have some more certainty in our lives. Just wishful thinking!

Yea, It seems as if US citizens can enter on the right door where there is no line (usually) vs the non US citizen entrance.

Years ago if you were in line waiting you would be given priority entrance, they really need to bring that policy back

It not just the embassy, I have chatted with a few girl who come to Manila from the province, Taxi driver rips them off driving all over town. It seems like a series of con artist to encounter.

Even me I  have to deal with it daily, each major city has it issues:  Manila - People trying to sell you fake rolex/silver coins, I even had some family try to get me to come to their house to talk about something kind of immigration issue his daughter was having, I am sure that was robbery waiting to happen.

Davao, I have them trying to sell me crocodile belts and fake Oakley sunglasses on every corner, I can go to China town and buy the Fake Oakley like 10 peso each if i buy like 12, and then Davao is so bad about people begging for money.  They stand outside all the fast food places torturing you for money, it's much worse than Manila.

Cebu, This place is ate up with prostitutes,  I will get offered "Company" or "Massage in my hotel" daily during the day inside Cebu Proper.  I have made about 5 trips to Cebu and it always the same, I assumed since there are so many guys from Australia and Europe there paying for pok pok services.

You know what? Their problem and issues is not your responsibilities at all, so many problems and poverty going on in this country not me nor you could fix. I was born and raise here what you see and experience is just a tiny piece compared to us/me, so i know all these things.

If they got scammed then they should learn a lesson and be wise the next time. If they need back up for legal works let them work on it  if you can't fix it then leave.

Fake products? Phi is not the only country who sell fake items, Prostitutes? during my fiancéés stay in Cebu City (to our condo unit) not only women asked for a " good night and company" but i was stopped by  Arabs, & Europeans, not only women (pokpok) does that but foreigns do to but in a classy way.

p.s Oh im wearing a black dress with a slit, 5ft tall and petite im not one of the pokpoks and doesnt look pokpok either.
