Can I correct this kind of mistake from N400 form on my interview?

When I filed my N400, I put “yes” to “ Have you EVER been declared legally incompetent or been confined to a mental institution?” I voluntarily stayed in a mental hospital because of a breakdown. I have read somewhere that being “confined” in the mental institution is being confined against my will and I should have answered “no”. I am worried about the mistake I made. What should I do? I do not have a notice for my interview date yet. I filed my N400 on June 4, 2020.

The form says

“Answer Item Numbers 1. - 21. If you answer "Yes" to any of these questions, include a typed or printed explanation on sheets of paper.“

Did you give an explanation?

One thing I can tell you is that you will be explicitly asked this question at the interview.

Edit - if you didn’t include an explanation I’d be inclined to upload an explanation as an additional document (assuming you filed online).

I was directed to a page where I can provide an explanation. I answered that I voluntarily admitted myself in the specific mental institution.

That’s good. On that basis I’m sure you won’t be rejected out of hand and you can explain. I think this question is both designed to ensure that you are competent to make any declarations  but more that it’s a holdover from the bad old days when the us government took the position that they would not admit people who they considered “mentally feeble” as they delightfully put it.
