Was thinking of hosting a house warming party in our new digs.. Not for gifts, just to have our friends in the area come by and see the place.

What's the etiquette involved in that? How do we say "don't bring gifts" nicely?

Any thoughts on warming a place up proper like?

So maybe don't call it a housewarming. Send out invites for a bar-b-q instead. When the guests arrive take them on a tour of your new place. That would lose the whole "we want gifts" that house warmings sometimes imply.

I have moved house only twice in my adult life and neither time had a house warming party. Folks still want to drop by with a new plant or whatever, so you probably will not prevent the gift givers. :lol:

My hubby probably would dig the b'bque thingy as he's all about getting a grill for our deck..

:) One thought on the prayer/dedication.. excellent idea.. but we really wanted to have some people from work, some people from church, some neighbors.. so it will be a mixed group.. so we want to make it as "friendly" to all as possible..
