How many days/weeks between failed payment and receipt of I-797C?

Chase declined both charge attempts from USCIS for $535 and $1225 for F-1 concurrent AOS by marriage, and it seems that we will get a rejection notice and I-797C soon.

Submitted 5/23, received by Chicago Lockbox 5/26, charge attempt overnight 6/2-6/3 which was declined by fraud detection mechanisms at Chase credit card.

Does anyone know when we can expect to receive the packet back with the I-797C? Thanks.

@Duke & Marie do you know if our submission should say RESUBMISSION or ORIGINAL SUBMISSION this time around? It was rejected due to credit card issues (fraud alert algorithms) last week.

If it was only rejected because the payment declined, I’d just check the edition of forms on my original submission to ensure they’re still current and ensure everything is still there (just in case they lost a document) and resubmit it

if they were were trying to take the money the first time and couldn’t, it’s a good indicator that they were actually accepting the application.. with rejections they don’t even try take the cash and just return it.

Yup, they did indeed return all the forms and evidence that we had sent originally. We just replaced some papers where we had to fill in the A-number (I-797C has it) and we also decided to reprint the pages on forms that had our signatures, along with forms' first pages if not already replaced due to A-number addition.

We're sending checks this time so hopefully it works out fine. Thank you!
