Choose to stay outside the US scared of flying back to US due to coronavirus

Hello,

 

I have been staying in my hometown outside the US since March 2, I was planning to stay only for a month but due to the pandemic and the lockdown in our country I choose to stay in my country when I heard from the news that the virus in NY is growing so fast. And also my brother developed anxiety and depression because of this pandemic and I have to take care of him. I want to know if I can still go back to the US with my permanent green card without a problem. I’m not sure when I’m coming back, if it’s safe to go to US and if I found someone to stay with my brother then I’m coming back. I have read that I can stay for a year but not more than a year. Is this true?

Correct. If you were planning on staying over a year you would have needed to file a re-entry permit. Don't forgot only US citizens are ever allowed entry; this is not to say you will have a problem under 12 months .

Filed: 8/14/17 at VSC                                 NOA: 8/15/17 Received 8/21 by mail

Biometrics: Dated: 8/25/17   Received 9/2/17   Appointment 9/11/17 

Approved: 10/23/18 -no interview
