I-751 Pending, Extension Letter about to expire

Hi everyone,

I sent my I-751 petition to remove conditions on April 2019, and received my extension letter which grants me legal status until June 2020.

With the coronavirus situation and USCIS delays, I'm wondering how can I maintain legal status if their offices remain closed until or after June 2020. I know that usually, if your extension letter expires, you can get an Infopass appt to get a I-551 stamp on your passport, but if the offices are closed I assume this won't be possible.

Does anyone have input on this?

Thank you, and stay safe everyone!

You don't need a stamp if you are not going to travel. Your permanent status is not affected at all. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply! Do you know if it affects my ability to work?

You are a permanent resident, the card expires but your status doesn't expire.

Hi,

Well, I'm going to tell you what happened to me... it has been a nightmare. So I got married to a US Citizen in 2015, and I was granted the green card with the two years conditions on 2016,  which expired on 2018. So I got my packet ready and was sent  at that time, but for some reasons we got some delays. Anyway since my green card was already expired they send the 18 months  extension letter on November 2018. With these letter, I was able to finally work and update my Driver's license. I was happy for both, even though MVD gave a temporary driver's license because of this letter. But guess what? Everything has expired on March of this year (2020) and for that matter I had to stop working, and I don't have a driver's license. So Yes! Having a  extension letter expired affects everything in your life. I tried to contact USCIS to get an Info Pass and because of the Co-VID 19 they cancelled my  appointment to get a new extension. Now I'm working on getting evidence because I got  a letter requesting more evidence before  June 9th.

I just wish you luck. Hope everything goes well.
