Well i have not been on here in a while. I hope everyone is well and that all the people that were helping me at the time i got my visa have been succesfull.

I am one of the few lucky people to get my K1 in about 8 months but the pressure of getting the K1 and planning a wedding on the other side of the world became too much and we split up. I had my K1 ready and waiting to go and it expired on the 27th of jan this year.

We both tried to move on with our lives meet other people but we both still wanted to be together i made a vow to never talk to her again there were somethings at the time she did that nearly killed me and she broke my heart and wrecked my life for a time.

I was 7 weeks away from moving over had a short contracting job and had everything ready for the move. It was tough.

Anyway we started talking again in Feb out of the blue really and we had to admit we still loved each other. After lots and lots of talking we sorted things out.

I went over last month to see her after not seeing her for 10 months it was very emotional and we are engaged again but she is now moving to the UK as my job is great over here now and i made a point of saying i was ready to move for you and u messed up now its your turn.

So december she comes over and we get married next april i guess.

The moral of the story is that the visa is only a small part of this i know at the moment it seems so big for you both but your relationship has to be bigger than that. i thought ours was but the pressure of everything became huge and was too much for her to deal with and she did some silly things.

Love is very strong it brought us both back together and i hope that you all have that same strength because i know your going to need it.

I was just telling yesterday someone that all this visa thing, and not as much the distance itself, made us both feel violated. Our life, our love beeing exposed like that, our most intimate thoughts and feelings being under strangers' eyes. Not being able to enjoy a moment without "ah, let us take a picture", having to collect "evidence" like we are some kind of criminals... I am a lawyer and I just wished that I wouldn't have to prepare "files" in order to marry the man I love. At least in my private life let me forget about files, evidence and paperwork...

So I do agree that this is so tough, and that it can turn a beautiful relationship, which otherwise it might have worked perfect, into a heartbreake. We do pray that God keeps us on the right way and helps us do what is good for us, and both of us try not to focus on the visa as much as on our love itself and, until we are together, on the lifes we have each of us in his country. We don't stay as much in front of the computer as we talk over the phones (for hours... but at least it makes the distance seem smaller, as you can reach the other anytime on the spot, right when you feel you need him/her), we try to go on with our work, life etc... and talk about each detail of what we did, so that we don't feel that our life is affected by the visa "journey"...

I am happy to hear that another couple has gone over this trial, maybe not as they started to thing it had to be, and that your love proved stronger than the borders, distance, governments' policies. May you have all the luck in the world and remember that the journey to each other is as important as the goal itself... (F)
