Hi,

My wife sponsored me and I gave interview on 19 November 2019 and after the interview i was told that my visa is approved and I will get an email in 10 days regarding pickup of passport. But its been 4 months now I haven't received any response from them. And ceac case status is still same from 4 months thats ready, ready for the interview. Me and wife send inquiries to US embassy Islamabad two times but they didn't respond. We are confused, what should we do? Anyone facing similar situation?

Why its taking so long? Please guide

Visas are approved only AFTER the interview AND all reviews, checks, and administrative processing are complete........even if the Consulate Officer recommends approval.  Unfortunately, Pakistan is known for extended administrative processing times which could last many months or even years....My understanding is that additional background checks and document verification play a pert in long AP. ....There is nothing you can do, but wait it out for the final result.......

The only true approval comes when the status changes to ISSUED.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

There are provisions in the law which allow consulates to re-validate visas after expiration if inability to travel was beyond the control of the visa holder......re-validation would require a new medical.........no guidance has been issued, yet, as to how this current situation will be handled.......waiting is the only option right now.
