Yes. Come to the UK regional forum for more info as well. Or check the general embassy forum for other info. Also, if you go to the gallery section, you can see scans of packet 3 - which discusses the sponsorship issue. I also have more recent scans in my profile, if you go to my profile, scroll down, and click on "my photos."

Also - where are you in the timeline? Have you filed yet? In what state does your US fiance live?

You likely have MONTHS before you need to worry about the financial aspect of this process. It only comes up at the Embassy. It does not effect your I-129F, so you should have ample time to get those ducks in a row.

If you can not sponser your fiance(e) then as long as the co-sponser is able to meet the financial requiremtents to be a co-sponser it doesn't matter which state they are from as long as they live in the U.S. and are a U.S. citizen then yes they can co-sponser your fiance(e). Haven't even begun the process yet. We're right at the beginning, and both of us are terrified that there'll be something that will mean that our application won't even get off the ground. If, for example, I wasn't allowed to have a US co-sponsor, we'd be screwed, because he'd only have a part time job and still be studying.

We want to make sure that there's nothing from the outset that's going to void our chances of doing this. We're paranoid, but we'd rather be that than careless, you know?

Oh, and he lives in Virginia, by the way.

Can anyone who's married/marrying a UK fiance/e confirm or deny that the United Kingdom allows the alien to have co-sponsors in the US if the citizen cannot provide for them?

Yey, K1 visa applicants from the UK can be co-sponsored.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous

Virginia! Congratulations, you will be filing through the Vermont Service Center - fastest one there is - this is great news for you.

Take a moment to read the guides here. Then go to www.uscis.gov, download and read, several, times, forms I-129F and G-325A.

For the time being, all you need to worry about is that you a) intend to marry and b ) have been in the same place at the same time, in person, within the last two years. That's all you have to prove at the USCIS stage.

Later, after they approve you, the Embassy will, at the interview, want to see proof that the UKC won't become a "public charge" in the US. You can do this in several ways, the most common of which is the I-134, the sponsorship document for which you can have a co-sponsor who can be any US citizen willing to serve as such for you. You'll also need to show the Embassy you are still in a bona fide relationship, but that probably won't be hard to do, right?

The process is long, and there are details, but it isn't "complicated" per se - especially for UK/US couples. It takes time, however. Plenty of time. A bit less for the lucky Vermont filers, but still - it's a long, frustrating process.

The best thing to do is educate the heck out of yourselves.

p.s. since the proof-of-having-met evidence always generates a LOT of questions - here is what USCIS says they want to see. they don't say it in the instructions on the form - which is stupid of them - but they say it when they send out requests for additional evidence to couples who have applied. you can avoid this request from them if you get them what they want up front. to summarize, they want to see passport stamps and boarding passes, pictures are nice, but not nececssary nor sufficient on their own, and save the emails, chats, phone bills, etc, because they don't care and none of it proves what they need proved. here you go, good luck:

Submit evidence of meeting the meneficiary in person within the two-year period preceding the filing of the petiition. The primary evidence may include airline ticket stubs and receipts (that indicate month, day, and year), copies of passport pages taht show the identification page and admission stamps, military order(s), letter from Commanding Officer, or any evidence that will help the USCIS to determine that the petitioner has met the beneficiary within the two years. The secondary evidence may be film dated photographs of the petitioner and the beneficiary together. The following DOES NOT constitue evidence of meeting: disc, videos, emails, letters, phone bills, and greeting cards.
