Hello everyone,

I wasn't able to find anything regarding this question, but here is the situation my father in law currently is in:

He applied for his daugther (over 21) with the F2b visa application and, fingers crossed, the application is due to be approved sometime in the next few months hopefully. She is in Pakistan and he is currently a Permanent Resident in the U.S. and is due to apply for his citenzship this year in April (it will be 5 years). My question is that if he applies for his citizenship, will that affect his daughters visa application? If he becomes a citizen before her interview, will her case status be affected because he is no longer a permanent resident, but a citizen?

Thank you for any help!

Been discussed many times. He can become a citizen and notify NVC he wishes to retain F2B for the case rather than changing to F1 so that they can keep the priority date advantage.
