UK Passport for US Born Children

Has anyone gone through the process of getting British Citizenship for their US born children? Looks like my daughter would qualify even though her father lives in US as a permanent resident. Just wondering how long was the process and did it have to be done in the UK?

Here’s a good starting page for research https://www.gov.uk/register-a-birth

Follow the various links.

You can register (with the U.K.) your child’s birth. Then they are on the official roles. If your intent is to establish UK citizenship for the child, then that may be a good plan, but there is a fee. You can get a UK passport without registering the child as British. It will have to be renewed every 5 years and ordered from the UK. They mail it to the US. Unless the baby has a real reason to travel on a British passport, the registration may do for now.

Where will she be using a British passport?
