No experience with Bogota, but make sure you keep a few copies of the extension letter with you.  You need the original to check in and re-enter the US (along with the expired GC), but one time when my wife was traveling at this stage, the airline asked to keep the letter.  They accepted a photocopy.

The copy is a great idea as you need to be prepared for everything. In Colombia, often with the government, you are expect to go make a copy at your expense. i.e. go to a copy shop and stand in line again.   I may spurge and make two copies.  Thanks.
