Hello Friends, I dont know much about the R 1 visa but I believe it is for religious workers,can a person work under this visa other than the religious work he or she has to do?Thanks for all your replies!

No.  It is for religious workers whose lives are dedicated to religious practices and functions (e.g., ministers and those who have a religious vocation such as a nun or priest), as opposed to those involved in secular aspects of religion (e.g., church secretaries, accountants, or custodians).  No outside work is permitted.

Amusingly I read a report that it was the highest fraud category, they are closely checked.
