Hello, I am the petitioner for my wife who is immigrating, my dad is a sponsor filing form I-864A. My parents file taxes jointly. When it comes to household size, under optional, do I include both my parents where it says Optional? I thought I only should put my Dad since he is the one doing the I-864A, but do I have to include my mom as well? If so, does she have to complete a form I-864A as well? Thank you for anyone who can shine some light on this!

You as the petitioner files an I-864.   Your parents are not part of your household.

Your dad as the Joint Sponsor files his own I-864.

Dad's wife files an I-864a as a Household Member of the Joint Sponsor.

Thanks for the reply, We all live in the same house, my parents and I. So he would file I-864A right? Does my mom have to file I-864A also? Do I include them both in the Household size?

I'm confused, why cant he do a form i-864A? I read that if we are both apart of the same principal residence and I want to combine his income with mine I do a i-864A.

You may count the income and assets of members of your household. To use their income you must have listed them as dependents on your most recent federal tax return or they must have lived with you for the last 6 months. They must also complete a Form I-864A, Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member. I
