Asking for a friend, would like feedback from people who have served in army units in combat and later applied for N400.

Question 14

14. Were you EVER involved in any way with any of the following:
A. Genocide?
B. Torture?
C. Killing, or trying to kill, someone?
D. Badly hurting, or trying to hurt, a person on purpose?
E. Forcing, or trying to force, someone to have any kind of sexual contact or relations?
F. Not letting someone practice his or her religion?

this is a list of “bad stuff” but anyone who has been in a military combat situation presumably would answer “yes” to C and D? The questions about belonging to a military unit etc only come later in the list so it’s kind of unclear how to fit this in.

Similarly question 17 about ever using or threatening to use a weapon against someone else, would be a yes for someone who had been a soldier in combat?

So just yes and explain the circumstances?

thanks

There is also a question somewhere about weapons training. From what I understand saying yes to any of the above is not an auto-denial. Every case is evaluated on its own merits and in entirety. . As long as you answer all the questions HONESTLY, its ok for some of them to be answered as yes.
