I had my medical examination today in London. when i filled out my Medical questionnaire the one question as we all know for the us is have i ever thought about my harming myself and have i acted it on to which I said yes when i went in to the room to begin she asked me about it to which i said i had self harmed from around the time i was 11 when my dad died. Which went on for a few years she asked me if i had ever gone and gotten help to which i had bereavement counseling but as for anything for the self harm which i hadn't. she then ended up asking to see them and i showed her them and she was very surprised as to why i didn't have any help to which i said at the time i was very young and no one knew but i haven't done it in a while because i deal with things differently and my partner helps massively she then said that i would need to see a psychiatrist. And asked me to send the paperwork to my doctor for him to see if i had any help. What will this entail? Will this be bad for me and my fiancés visa? What can i expect thanks in advance and sorry for the rambling

Hi there!  First of all, kudos to you for being upfront about it and dealing with the questioning.  My husband had to go through something similar.  When he went to the medical, the doctor notice his scars, so she referred him to a psychiatrist.  He had to go and have a session with that doctor, whom also did a sealed letter my husband had to take back to the original doctor and everything was sealed in the medical examination.  I don't know what the doctors in your country will request to complete the medical examination and move forward, so the best thing would be to ask them or anyone in VJ that is from your country.  As far as how it affects it, they are only looking to see if you are a risk to yourself or others NOW, not what could have been.  It was a scary thing for us as well, but we knew that it was in the past (close to 10 years ago) and we were prepared to write letters of intent (in case they suggested he needed help in the USA) or whatever.

So, my humble advice would be do as the doctors say and ask what needs to be done.  If they still question it, try to come up with a solution such as a letter of intent saying you are committing to seek help/counsel here if needed, etc.  There are plenty of people on VJ (if you search) who were actively doing therapy as they went through the K1 visa and still got approved.  It is just another hurdle and evidence that needs to be provided.

FYI, ours got approved, no fiasco, and we are married and living in the US. :)
