Hello Everyone - As I'm working on filling out the I 130 form for my parents, I discovered that the  translated certified copy that I had is missing. I can't seem to find it. I do have the original birth certificate, so I think it's just a matter of finding an approved translation company that would translate and notarize (not sure if that's needed?) the original?

 

Has anyone used any such services? A simple google search revealed quite a few of these so I thought I'd check to see if anyone has any experience?

Notarization isn't required. It's your choice to use a company or not. If you are able to translate it, then you can do it: https://www.uscis.gov/ilink/docView/AFM/HTML/AFM/0-0-0-1/0-0-0-2061/0-0-0-2253.html

"I certify that I am competent to translate from [Foreign language] to English and that the above Birth Certificate of [Person's name] is a complete and accurate translation to the best of my knowledge and belief."

Sign and date below the statement. Also put name and address.

Uscis does not have an approved list.   They provide the requirements and any one who meets the requirements can translate

Read the instructions carefully,  interpret them literally and don't overthink

Thanks @HRQX once again!  I agree, the only issue is I'm not 100% competent in my ability to read my native language because I didn't grow up there!  I did however find a company online called rush translate.  They seem to have pretty good reviews and reasonable cost ($24.99) for translation and certification in the format you mentioned, they will email me the translated document and certification - do you think that should be good?  I was planning on printing it myself or do you think the certifcation needs to have actual signatures in ink?  They do offer an option to mail but it cost extra and of course it'll take some time for it to arrive.  I'd love to hear your opinion on this? Thanks again in advance for all your help so far!
