I had applied to extend my work status a few months ago, still hadn't heard back, now I'm filing for AOS bec of marriage. Is my AOS application going to be adjudicated by a different officer than my pending work application extension? Are they two different depts that work on green card applications vs work extension applications?

thank you so much!

Thanks so I'm guessing the two cases are treated and adjudicated separately?

for example when I go in for my AOS marriage interview do I need to tell them I had a work status extension application pending when I first submitted my AOS papers?

they are separate petitions and are treated separately. If you get your green you no longer need your work extension so it will be denied. If they get to your work extension first it will be decided on its own merits regards of whether you have a pending adjustment or not.

Thanks. That also helps my query. I am in the same position as Yogalife: the company I work for filed for my L1B extension in August, and this will likely take many months to be approved/rejected. At the same time, I applied for marriage-based AOS (I am married to a US citizen) earlier this month, in September. My I-765 NOA clearly mentions that there is already another petition pending and also provides instructions about changing employer etc. So yes, the USCIS already knows if there are work petitions pending, and, as the person before me commented, this doesn't adversely impact either of the petitions. :)
