Hi all,

 

Hope everyone is having a smooth visa process!

 

I have a burning question in regards to co-sponsorship for IR-5 visa application. I submitted a petition to bring my mom to the US as a permanent resident 7 months ago, however since then I left my job to be with my baby at home. NOW I am afraid that this change to my application may cause issues during my mom's immigration process. The question is... Can my husband be my moms visa sponsor instead of me? EVEN though I was the one whom started this process and now have ZERO income to prove that I can actually afford to have her here?

 

I am scared that I have messed up my moms chances after leaving my job. 

 

Any information or testimony of a similar situation will be appreciated.

You must still be the primary sponsor. Your spouse can (and should anyway if you file jointly) use an I-864A to combine his income/assets with your I-864.
