I received my biometrics appointment letter today and it states that I have to go to the New Orleans ASC. The thing is, we live in the Florida Panhandle (Niceville) and figured our local office would be Jacksonville because that's where our neighbours went when they went through AOS (from K-1 like us). Is it normal for residents in the Florida Panhandle to have their biometrics done in New Orleans even if it's not their local office? :help::huh:

Thanks in advance.

your ASC is generally not the same place as where you will have your AOS interview. this is totally plausable.

Thanks for the quick response. Looks like I was worried for nothing.

Hi,

I think that u have no cause to worry. I did ma biometrics in Santa Rosa, CA and did ma AOS interview in San Francisco. They are all about 5 hrs drive from where I live in CA. So I guess u have to get cool heads and go for the biometrics and that will be ok.

Awesome, someone in the same boat I am (and near where I live :P ). Thanks for the reassurance and good luck to you, too! :)

Oh, one more thing, how was the atmosphere there? Were they nice? Also, my husband is curious as to how your appointment went. What time was your appointment, what time did you arrive and how long did it take? Thanks again and sorry for all the questions.

Whaaaaat? I was not aware of that. I live near Chicago - about an hour away. Does this mean my biometrics appt. can end up being in California or somewhere? How very weird. LOL

I don't know where you'll end up having to go for your biometrics appointment. Maybe you can find something out by doing a search on VJ or perhaps there are other members who have gone through it from your are.

Yeah, I will have to do a search. This is crazy in my opinion. I don't see why you have to go cross country instead of to your nearest office. Whacked!

I think it's weird, too. But, the funny thing is, my husband and I did a Yahoo Map search to see the difference in distance between going to New Orleans and Jacksonville. Strangely enough, New Orleans is 40 minutes closer than Jacksonville. Oh well. It's kind of dumb that there isn't a closer office for us because we're more than likely going to make an over-nighter out of the whole thing, instead of leaving home at 4 in the morning. Which means we're going to fork over a hundred or so bucks for a room for one night, plus gas money to drive there and back (supposed to take over 4 hours to get there) and all for a 10 minute thing. I know it's something we have to do for our AOS process, I just wish they'd make something easy on us. But I forgot, it is USCIS I'm talking about. :bonk:

yes,my neighbor and you are very welcome :D

hmm, there is nothing to worry about it.there was just 5 people waiting for fingerprints or something when i get there.very quiet place.my appointment was at 8'oo in the morning and it took just 15 minutes :hehe:

yes they were nice people. :luv: i brought too many papers which is about power of attorney,my husband orders...etc<he is in Afghanistan now>and they didnt ask any questions about him.The appointment was about fingerprints, photo and signature.i dont know what will happen after this.we'll get the green card or they will ask us to go to another interview.we'll see.!!!

i see that you applied the AOS after me because we applied it on August,2006 and it has been almost 10 months to get some information from them.probably, they lost my case or something happened. it's a mystery

anywaaay,i drove up there the day before and stayed the hotel which is Days Inn for 1 night, which is 5 minutes away from Immigrant Application Office.

i arrived from here around 10 o'clock in the morning and got there around 4'oo pm because it was raining like cats and dogs.

if you have any question dont hesitate and ask..no probleeem..!!!
