Hi. So I was required by St. Lukes to undergo treatment for TB. It will take around 6-9 months approximately. What happens to my current visa application now? I made the mistake of already applying and just waiting for the prompt to take my medical since I thought for sure that I was completely healthy. Even now, I still don't feel like I'm sick. But as it is, this requirement stands in the way. Is the application going to be denied then? Do I need to withdraw? Is it going to be on hold until my medical treatment is complete? Please share me your thoughts on this. Thank you!

You can relax, the visa application will be "on hold" during your DOT at St. Luke's (SLEC).

Do you have your interview date scheduled?    Sometimes SLEC contacts the embassy to cancel your appt, sometimes you will have to do this yourself.  You can ask at SLEC if they contacted the embassy or if you need to do this.

Once you have completed the 6 months of DOT (Direct Observation Therapy) for TB you will be required to complete a new medical (pay another fee .. of course).  At the completion you will be able to schedule your new interview and complete the visa process.    SLEC will  send your medical file to USEM .     Do take note that you will only have a maximum of 90 days validity on your visa, you must enter the USA before that expiration date.

What visa type are you?

Thank you for responding! I'm applying for a student visa. I'm deferring the program though since I can't apply for the Fall's Term already because I'm stuck here in Phil for the treatment. It means I'm moving my term date to next Fall instead. Same school same place. Anyway, if my visa is only going to be on hold, why is there a need to cancel it? Or do you mean inform them of the delay?

Do you have an interview date scheduled?    You can not attend the interview if you haven't completed the medical.     So if you have an interview scheduled already you need to contact the embassy and have it cancelled, then rescheduled once the medical is completed.

Ah no, no interview scheduled date yet. Although I suppose I should ask St. Luke's if they already informed the embassy of my delay?

OK.  I was only wondering about your interview appt.       You may want to make sure the embassy is kept informed all the same.

Ellendionne, may I know when did you go to your 3 day sputum testing? You got a result Aug 24 so I assume that you did your sputum test end of July?

Oh, I did my sputum testing last June 19. I got the initial result on June 24. The culture result was supposed to be released late August. But I was called back on August 7, because the sputum showed signs of TB. I only addressed it in the forum now because I'm starting to worry about my Visa Application. My application was submitted last June 10.

I appreciate your reply. My husband did a 3days sputum testing july29-31. Aug 28 was his 4th week. I called them Aug 27 they didn’t have the result and it says still pending. Believing God that he is negative. For your visa, everything will be fine 😊 just always stay positive because God is good all the time!
