Marrying spouse again to get an apostille-able certificate?

For any of you married in non-Hague countries, I'm sure you can relate to the authentication process being a pain. I am a dual citizen and move abroad for work sometimes and plan on doing so again throughout my life - I want a new marriage certificate. My Thai one can't be apostilled and the original can't even be authenticated by the Thai MFA unless I go to Thailand (neither my wife nor I are Thai).

In addition, our certificates are non-replaceable so just generally a nightmare vital record to have to deal with.

The problem is every place wants to say you are single to get a marriage license. Has anyone successfully got a new marriage certificate outside their original country?

edit: most places I have seen require you are currently unmarried. However it looks like in DC they only ask about "former marriages" on the paper app? Maybe this would work https://www.dccourts.gov/sites/default/files/divisionspdfs/committee on admissions pdf/Marriage-License-Application.pdf. The online form asks 'were you previously married?' which is a different question and one I would like to avoid!

You are already married. You won’t solve this by trying to marry again like this.

NVC processing information lists the availability of Certified Thai marriage certificates .. so I don’t see you have an alternative
