I-130 was returned by USPS. Will it delay processing?

Hi everyone!

 

We mailed our concurrent filing on May 4th, and I got my two notices on May 16 (I-485 and I-765). I get USPS informed delivery and my husband's notice (I-130) was supposed to arrive on the same day as the other two, but for some reason the USPS delivery guy returned his to USCIS. We had to contact USCIS and request for it to be mailed to us again and we didn't get the notice back until June 1st. Now I'm wondering if that will set us back a whole month for getting everything processed. I know that the case status tool on their website is not super reliable, so I wanted to know how do they process cases in this situation. Do they move forward only until they ensure that all notices were delivered successfully? I appreciate any help with this.

The receipt notice has no bearing on actual processing timelines.

They don't send receipt notices via traceable mail...they're sent as Official Mail (which has certain restrictions), but otherwise are the same as regular mail. They don't have a way to know who got the notice or not unless somebody tells them. It's not unheard of for somebody to be denied because they were sent an RFE notice but never actually received it, and therefore never responded.

1/2/18: EAD + AP approved (no website update), 1/5/18: EAD + AP mailed, 1/8/18: EAD + AP approval notice hardcopies received, 1/10/18: EAD + AP received

9/5/18: Interview scheduled notice, 10/17/18: Interview

10/24/18: Green card produced notice, 10/25/18: Formal approval, 10/31/18: Green card received

7/13/2017: Interview: APPROVED!!!
