Earlier today, I visited my local bank in hopes of having a notary sign my I-134 form. However, the notary was suspicious of the "Signature of Officer Administering Oath" statement and refused to sign without first crossing out that particular statement. He recommended that i instead travel to a USCIS field office to have it signed by an officer. Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of traveling to a USCIS office this week.

I did a little research in the visa journey forums and it according to several VJ members, bank notaries are legally allowed to sign this section of the I-134 form. Could it be that he is legally allowed to sign this line and not know it? Should I search out other banks for a public notary that knows what he/she is doing or am I forced to go to a USCIS office?

Just go to another notary - it doesn't have to be your bank although you may have to pay somewhere else.

My bank said they only would let their notary notarize bank things or stuff for loans. I googled notaries in my area and found one at a shipping and mailing place. $10, very easy and quick.

Probably a worthy investment if you are concerned about the bank officer's having marked up the form.

Hi !

Good day to you. Your bank notary is allowed to notarize that document. I had mine notarized from my husband's bank notary for free, all the lady asked when she signed the paper in the bank are: driver's license/ sss card, income tax returns and the immigration papers to be signed. Your bank may not be aware of this notarization of immigration forms, just tell them and explained this matter to them. Good luck and God speed....

One of the secretaries where I work did it for free....
