I took a look. I guess that using the NOA date is good if you want to estimate how long the processing will take at the service center only. If you bench mark from the date mailed then you will include the time spend in the mail room plus in actuall transit via US mail or UPS, etc.. A lot of people actually like that however since mailing times can slightly vary depending on where you live (by a day or so because of this) it adds a slight variance in the data but it is easily averaged out. It all really depends on what you want to know from the data :P.
